What’s new?
We get asked this question a lot. Since we have been doing this for too many years we have come up with some good ideas and some really bad ones.
30 years ago we were braiding golf balls into Ficus Benjamina for a Fathers Day promotion. There was the Pina Colada plant where we planted a pineapple plant into the coconut seed. I never said they were great ideas!
Now that we focus on garden centers and not chain stores our ideas come in different forms. We are lucky enough to visit many of the local nurseries in our area often so when we see an interesting variety we can experiment, propagate and test with you our customers.
An example was the Justicia Yellow Dancer. This unusual tropical shrub for full sun caught everyone’s attention at the TPIE Plant Exhibition (photo inset) and it won plant of the year. We are growing triple bloom adenium desert rose in 50 colors and experimenting with a variegated jasmine on a trellis.
So yes, the varieties are changing but our excitement never does. Check out our website under “ what’s new” to see what we’ve been up to.
